Heathrow Airport Parking Help

Airport car parking at UK airports can be very expensive, especially if you want to park at an airport parking garage.. As an example, when you  park your car at London Heathrow airport you can face parking charges of up to about 20BPS a day. Airport Parking Connection brings you the best choices and great prices so you can easily park your car at or near the airport when you fly outl. And you can easily make reservations to park your vehicle and not have to worry about rides to/from the airport when you travel.   And, once you do find a spot you may have to wait for the airport shuttle to come and get you and take you to the terminal, further delaying your plans.

At Heathrow, Terminal 4 is south of the other terminals and is reached via the M4 Junction 3, M25 Junction 14 or the A30. If you are relying on a GPS navigation system for Heathrow directions, the postcode for Heathrow 1, 2 and 3 is TW6 1EW. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are closer and within walking distance of each other but terminals 4 and 5 are farther away and require the shuttle trains or buses. The average walking time between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 is just a little over 10 minutes. Terminals 4 and 5 are off on their own, but can be reached from terminals 1, 2 and 3 by the free inter-terminal transfer service.

Heathrow Brand New Terminal 5, a Fresh Look

T5 represents a new adventure for BAA.  It also has some unique solutions to offer as well.  If you will be flying out of there, you might want to see our page on the most convenient Healthrow Airport Parking Vendors to save yourself some time, money and aggravation.

Don’t Forget Your Passport … or Your Credit Card

More retail center than duty-free, Terminal 5 will help to balance BAA’s books

It has taken two decades to plan, 20,000 workers to build and cost an unprecedented 4.3bn. But until now, the doors to the retail space at Terminal 5, Heathrow airport, which have recently opened, were firmly closed to the media, amid criticisms that the terminal is destined to be little more than a glorified shopping mall. Given the first glimpse inside a few weeks ago, the Guardian discovered that shopping will indeed be an integral part of the experience for the 27 million passengers expected to pass through the airport’s gates each year.

The operator, BAA - which has built the terminal for the exclusive use of British Airways - says that only 5% of the overall space is devoted to retail. That figure belies its breathtaking scale. Its 22,000 square meters of shops and restaurants will increase Heathrow’s total retail space by half.

Terminal 5 will have many firsts. Passengers will be able to dine at Gordon Ramsay’s first airport restaurant - for which he is boldly aiming for a Michelin star - while there is a footballers’ wives’ dream of a shopping avenue where the first Prada in a European airport rubs shoulders with Paul Smith, Gucci, Tiffany & Co, Mulberry and Christian Dior.

Nick Ziebland, retail director of Terminal 5, said BAA had identified customers’ priorities: "Somewhere to sit. Lovely spaces, good restaurants, some sort of seasonality." Passengers have also made clear their dislike of queuing.

Ziebland bravely sticks his neck out when he says that, provided check-in is straightforward, passengers will be whisked through security to "airside" in just 10 to 15 minutes. BAA has already compromised by giving up retail space, originally for a large pub, to be used for additional security lanes.

All the retailers have been chosen by BAA, and the company has discretion over what the outlets can sell. One of the Harrods stores, for example, will sell only fashion and accessories. "There will be no teddy bears or tins of shortbread here," said Ziebland.

When the shopping gets tiring, refreshment beckons: on a corner site is Gordon Ramsay’s Plane Food, offering a "time-guaranteed" menu to ensure passengers will not be late for their flight. The Wagamama restaurant is also another airport first, but, breaking with tradition, there will be no McDonald’s in the "grab and go" section.

Upmarket stores are clustered together for the convenience of the big spenders. There is Paul Smith - with "virtual" garden views through French windows - Prada, Mulberry, Gucci and luxury stationers Smythson. Leather-covered seats in the public areas are designed by Foster + Partners and, airport authorities claim, there are 9,000 of them.

But BAA is more dependent on retail than it likes to admit, and the cash generated from retail, which includes car parking, brings in about half the total income for its Spanish owner, the Ferrovial group. In its latest accounts, the airport operator underlined the importance of shops to its finances. The company makes 4.30 a passenger in retail sales and generates a further 6.80 a passenger from landing fees. Retail accounts for around a quarter of BAA revenues and, the company argues, it holds down the landing fees.

BAA has a cash flow of around 1bn a year, which must finance capital expenditure of a further 1bn a year, plus an annual interest bill of around 840m. The sums do not add up and the City has warned that BAA could run out of cash by the end of the year unless it refinances 9bn of debt.

The emphasis on retail, of course, is a gamble: about one-third of all Heathrow passengers, insiders say, don’t spend anything at all.

Heathrow Airport Parking that is both Convenient and affordable

Convenient and affordable parking without the gamble

Heathrow Airport parking is having a full-fledged parking facility to cater the needs of the UK’s busiest airport. The convenient and spacious parking facility adds up the comfort offered by the Heathrow airport.

Arranging your Heathrow Airport Parking in advance online
will save you money and time in the longrun, while assuring you of a safe and secure facility.

Travelers need to know that airport parking doesn’t have to be stressful or poor value. People have enough to think about, especially when it comes to flying from the world’s busiest airport Heathrow. If travelers use the park & ride bus service they potentially have to find an off-site car park, which can be daunting in itself and then haul their bags to a collection point to wait for a bus. Waiting times vary in length but it no fun going through this process in bad weather let me tell you from experience! Add small children into the equation and you have got yourself a headache for sure.

Meet & Greet parking, also known as Chauffeur or Valet parking was once only for the rich travelers amongst us. 12 months ago there were a handful of more affordable firms offering the service but prices were still considerably more than the park & ride bus service so meet & greet parking still had low awareness. Over recent few months we have heard the horror stories on TV about cowboy meet & greet firms who were offering very tempting low prices for various UK airports but then parking their customers cars in all sorts of dodgy locations and also taking liberties with customer’s cars. How to hold an already niche market back further!

Since these ‘cowboy’ firms have been exposed the reputable firms out there have got a tougher job now with the amount of mistrust out there. However, meet & greet is the fastest way to park and with prices only a little more than the park & ride bus service, meet & greet is a very tempting and sensible alternative option.

Heathrow Airport Parking has a lot of parking options; from that you can choose the one which best suit your budget and convenience. The bus service’s main disadvantage is the extra planning involved and pressure of allowing even more time into the journey. What travellers really want is to go straight to check-in so they get good seats and have plenty of time before their flight leaves to enjoy the shops!

Meet & greet parking included in the Heathrow Parking services is great because it does save a lot of time and allows travelers to drop their car off outside the terminal and go straight to check-in. As long as you get a good price and a quality meet & greet firm you should find this alternative a much more enjoyable experience all round. Value Individual Parking (VIP) has been established since 2004 and was the pioneer of affordable but quality meet & greet parking. Every week 25% of bookings come from repeat customers or people recommended by word of mouth. Visit www.valueindividualparking.co.uk to find out more.

Heathrow Airport Parking: Powerful Reasons To Book Online

Parking At Heathrow: Powerful Reasons To Book Online

Until I moved to Norfolk late last year, my regular trips to Heathrow Airport for my frequent flights to Germany involved an easy bus ride from Harrow, where I was pleased to mix with fellow travellers on the 140 bus to Terminal Two. But now the trip to Heathrow, combined with London business meetings, mean that I need to use my car for the trip to Heathrow - and for the first time for years I have to explore the options for parking the car for the few days I am abroad.

There is a wide choice of airport parking services
at Heathrow Airport.
See our list of the best.

A wide choice of car parks:

As befits the busiest airport in the world, public transport to and from the airport is reliable and frequent with a choice of trains, coaches, Heathrow Express from Paddington Station, taxis and car hire. In my research I found very quickly, that the choice of airport car parks is no less comprehensive, with over 25 companies offering off-airport facilities, in addition to the main on-airport car parks operated by BAA (British Airport Authority). For me, in the end, it was easy to choose, in the recently-refurbished AirParks London Heathrow, a completely re-vamped and redesigned secure off-airport car park at reasonable rates and handy for Terminal Two, situated just off the A4, five minutes from the tunnel. For the first-timer, the site offered quick and simple and easy access and exit routes, with clear directional signposts from the main road.

Valet or Chauffeured Parking

Additionally though, amongst the other car parks which caught my attention, was the one operated by a company called Airport Taxi’s who offer a special Meet and Greet service where uniformed drivers can meet your on arrival, and on clearance of customs on your return, to take care of your car, parking it for you and returning it to you at the terminal to save time. This additional convenience comes at a premium of course - as an example, parking for one week in July costs 98.00 inclusive of chauffeured assistance.

Some Heathrow airport cost comparisions

However, when saving money is important - and it is to me as a regular traveller - then it pays to shop around. As an example of the kind of costs which are involved in "drive up and pay" facilities, short stay parking (recommended for stays up to five hours), available from all four terminals has prices which start from 2.30 for up to 30 minutes, but can cost 44.50 per 24 hour period.

Business parking for travellers who need parking for up to three or four days, or those wanting greater speed and convenience is available in Business car parks situated closer to the terminals than long stay. They also operate a more frequent courtesy coach transfer. These are suitable for leisure or business parking and are available from all four terminals. But again, prices range from 21.50 - 26.50 per day.

Far more manageable costs are to be had simply by planning ahead and booking a selected car park in advance. Additionally, by using one of the many 25+ car parking organisations with off-airport facilities nearby to all terminals, savings of up to 60% can be found. Amongst these for example, is Purple Parking with 1 week rates in July for 39.00, with its regular courtesy bus service to the airport - and Meet and Greet facilities at additional costs if required, or Holiday Extras, which, although not practical for Terminal 4, is an equally low cost plan at 39.95 for the same period. For me, the higher 1 week July cost of 54.95 is justified by the fine new facilities offered at Q-Park, with the additional security of its Park Mark award, and the fact that this car park is the nearest off-airport car park to the airport.

Booking in advance: definitely a good idea

Thus, my change of circumstances really opened up a new world of understanding of what Heathrow Airport parking has become - a competitive, wide-ranging set of services both off-airport and on-airport and with varying costs and conditions. The overall message though is very clear - it pays to research and understand what the various booking agents and online comparison websites are now able to do: they ensure that the costs of parking at Heathrow remain manageable and in keeping with individual needs. Certainly, airport parking can be booked on the day, but to pre-book means more economical rates and the security of having a guaranteed parking space, in good time for flight departure and with the level of assistance you prefer.
